African Diaspora – Convergence and Reclamation

Five of Charleston’s most accomplished black artists will showcase their work reflecting on what it means to be part of the African Diaspora. Winston Kennedy, a painter who visualizes the movement of Africans to the Lowountry will be on hand, along with Arianne King Comer who studied indigo in Oshogbo, Nigeria. Fiber artist Addelle Sanders, who weaves silk and metallic cords together, will be showcased. Hampton R. Olfus Jr. and James Denmark round out the exhibit that Dr. Ade Ofunniyin curated. The public is invited to attend artist lectures by the exhibiting artists and curator on Sun. Sept. 28 at 2 p.m.
