Re: “Local filmmakers caught in the middle of film-fest squabble

I look forward to that day sir. Be watching for me and my pale horse.

I appreciate the lesson in assumptions and public arguments. I suppose you are not assuming any responsibility in this debate. Still laughing about the righteous comment.

The righteousness comment makes me laugh. I guess you are acting from divine law? Maybe God's law? Are you an alleged man of God as well? I would not use that argument in this debate. Don't use words that you do not fully understand. You are digging hole for all of the public to see, and they will see you for what you apparently really are.

Dear Furlinger,

I am aware the problem is solved as I noted in my comment. That was also not the subject of this debate. Machiavellian philosophy is not a luxury I have, and I find it interesting that you only approached the "spite" comment of my post. But please by all means continue to dig your hole deeper with your feeble comments.

Re: “Local filmmakers caught in the middle of film-fest squabble

The point of this discussion has turned into an exercise of digression. The bone of contention is not what Furlinger has done in the past for filmmakers nor for what he will do in the future. This discussion is also not about The Terrace. It is a nice venue and I have always enjoyed my experience there just like everyone else. The point to be proven is what is going on now, the here, the now, the present. I understand both sides, and I believe a more amicable solution could have been reached. Mr. Furlinger refused to allow the filmmakers to remove their films without handing over a monetary compensation. What is the big deal in their withdraw? Are they the only films in the festival? Will their withdraw ruin the festival? Once again, what is the big deal? What is Furlinger's motivation for being so stubborn? Furlinger's involvement with the CIFF in the past does come to mind, and it appears that he is acting out of spite. If he truly is in this for the filmmakers, then he knows that the CIFF will give them more publicity. A true professional would not invite such a squabble. Fortunately, the filmmakers will still get their air time at the CIFF despite this contractual banter. Everyone who continues to provide credibility for Furlinger's past contributions sound like character witness's in a trial. Their words are starting to sound like ways to reconcile good deeds in the past with misdeeds in the present. In short, justifications. But all in all, this is good publicity for both festivals and all the filmmakers involved. PT Barnum said "I don't care what you write about me just spell my name right."
