Just remember that without a steady paycheck, artists really have nothing.
Funding for the Arts is being cut all of the time so ballet gigs may not be so plentiful - and they never really were.
Its nice to be altruistic but hunger hurts.
By the way, Actiondog only speaks for himself. It is not the nom de plume for Jill.
Sorry to disappoint you.

Re: “Charleston Ballet Theatre accused of using works without permission

The average attendant, like myself, at a ballet is there to see a good performance. They usually haven't spent the previous week checking for the source of the material being performed that evening and probably could care less about something so mundane. The audience just wants to see good ballet, regardless of who, supposedly, designed the routine.
I can't see how an ensemble can perform effectively with all of the hate that has been displayed.
Perhaps a seving of cookies and milk at rehearsals and less demands upon the ensemble at rehearsals would make the dancers happy. I am sure that is what Stravinsky and Blanchine did.

Sounds like arguements from some overly coddled adolsecents who have just left the protection of mother and dad.
The job of an artist is to perform, regardless of the material or the source of the material. It is to take that material and make it live for your audience.
At my job and at the jobs of hundreds of other working people, the company does not supply us with anything, there are few safety standards, the raises are small, and you are expected to do EVERYTHING that you are told to do. We all need the job so we stay and make the best of it.
If you don't like the CBT and its policies, please leave. I am sure that your replacement will be arriving shortly.
