A Tribute to the Music of John Lennon

When: Wed., Dec. 8 2010
Price: Free
This week marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of rock ’n’ roll icon John Lennon. The Charleston County Public Library’s main branch (68 Calhoun St.) will host several major Beatles/Lennon fans from the local band scene on its main stage. Media Services Director Kevin Crothers arranged a showcase of talent for a tribute to the music of Lennon, who was one of the founding members of the Beatles. In the early 1970s, Lennon embarked on a solo career. In 1980, after a five-year hiatus, he released with an titled Double Fantasy. He was murdered in front of his residence in Manhattan three weeks later. This evening’s tribute features sets from Frank Royster, Ryan Bailey, Harrison Ray, the Amazing Mittens, members of Go for Launch and the Explorers Club, A Fragile Tomorrow, Sarah Ray, Richard Fowler, and others. Music starts at 6 p.m. See for more. —T. Ballard Lesemann
