A Taste of Equality

When: Sat., Nov. 13, 7 p.m. 2010
Price: $100
You can expect this year’s A Taste of Equality, with its “Speakeasy, Speak Out!” theme, to be “Bon Temps with a hit of glam,” according to the event’s coordinator, Michael Routzahn. The annual celebration is the Alliance for Full Acceptance’s principal fundraising event, and the Prohibition-inspired evening has more bells and whistles than ever before. The night will start with a special cocktail hour featuring a signature moonshine created by Mix Premier Bartending, which will be followed by a three-course dinner and an after-party. There will be live music from Elise Testone and DJ Becky Lawson, an auction full of indulgent items, and, Routzahn promises, plenty of surprises. “ATOE helps fund AFFA’s mission in achieving equality and acceptance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people,” Routzahn says. “It gives us a wonderful opportunity to thank and acknowledge our community supporters and allies.” Proceeds go to the organization’s media campaign, helping them educate the community on LGBT issues through meetings and educational programs. —Susan Cohen
