Here’s an event for the Twitter-loving, short-attention-span generation of theater-goers. Theatre /verv/ is hosting a weekend of short plays from some of America’s best-known playwrights. Love, in its many forms, is the theme of the trio of plays, all directed by JC Conway. The set kicks off with Sweet Eros, from Tony Award-winner Terrance McNally. The play follows a disturbed young man who kidnaps a woman and takes her to his home in the country. The man rants and ruminates to the tied-up woman, all the while stripping her down, in an attempt to turn her into his perfect mate. That disturbing play is followed by a more poetic exploration of love with Sam Shepard’s Savage/Love. Watch two relationships grow, crumble, and rekindle through 19 separate pieces. The trio wraps up with David Ives’ Universal Language, in which Don teaches Dawn the universal language, Unamunda, and they both end up getting more than they expected. This production contains adult language and situations, so leave the kids at home. —Erica Jackson
