A second chance to see some holiday parades

Summerville and Folly Beach events rescheduled

Sad because you missed all the great holiday parades last weekend? Don't be, because everyone missed them — both the Folly Beach and Summerville parades got canceled due to fussy weather. Now you get a second chance. It's like your Ebenezer Scrooge waking up on Christmas day.

Folly Beach's parade and holiday market were rescheduled for Dec. 18. There will be more than 40 vendors, and more than 100 groups usually participate in the annual event, and trophies are given to the best representations of their categories (like Best Golf Cart and Best Alternative Transportation). It starts at 1 p.m. on Center Street.

Meanwhile, Summerville D.R.E.A.M hosts the town's parade on Dec. 19, which has a "Patriotic Christmas: A Salute to out Troops Overseas" theme. It will march through Downtown Summerville starting at 2 p.m. and is free.
