A Fragile Tomorrow w/ the Makeshift, Mingle and Calibrate

When: Sat., July 30 2011
Price: $5
Charleston-based indie-rock/pop quartet A Fragile Tomorrow will perform one of their only local shows of the season this week at the Village Tavern. The band heads into preproduction work in the next few weeks in North Carolina for a forthcoming album titled Be Nice Be Careful. “We’re going stay off the road until the record is done, so we can give it the focus it needs, with the exception of a few one-off festival gigs and some local stuff,” says frontman Sean Kelly. “We’ve got 14 songs picked to put on the record out of 25 I wrote over the past year and a half.” The sessions come after a busy spell for the group. Kelly and his brother Dom contributed vocals to an album in the works by the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray. With brother Brendan on guitar and mandolin and Shaun Rhoades on bass and keys, the band opened for the Indigo Girls at several concerts earlier this year, too. Sean and Dom did a number of road trips through the Midwest and the Northeast as a duo as well. The Makeshift and Mingle and Calibrate open on Saturday.
