Re: “Bagel Nation

I just paid my first visit to the Bagel Nation on Magwood Drive, and I can promise y'all it will not be my last! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they had my Reuben Bagel and Potato Salad ready in a jiffy. They were cleaning up when I arrived, for closing time was drawing nigh, but they didn't rush me. I left with a full tummy, a smile on my face, & a song in my heart.

And hope and pray your local financial institution doesn't get taken over by one of the "big banks!" Remember First Federal Savings and Loan?!

Re: “Four Charleston food and bev workers sat down with Vice to talk about #MeToo

Brava Lynnar! I, too, am female and older. I entered the workforce in 1971 & had my fair share of sexual harassment. I remember in the early '90's when MUSC was trying to get a handle on workplace harassment someone in the Neonatology Division of the Pediatrics Department circulated a form listing what sort of harassment we would tolerate. That person would lose their job in today's world.

I have been groped, had men talk to my chest, had all sorts of nasty "compliments" whispered in my ear, been catcalled, etc. I learned a long time ago how to charm the "gentlemen" out of their no-good ways. I can, and do, insult them so sweetly that they think I've just given them the moon and the stars until they think it over.

Re: “Revisiting Garrison Keillor's last creepy old guy dispatch from Charleston

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?" Mr. Kiellor was writing a bit of fantasy when he wrote about his visit to Jestine's Kitchen. All the other lechers, gropers, etc., out there are also innocent until proven guilty. We may despise what they've been accused of doing. We may despise what we know they do. We may feel they are sleazebags of the worst kind. These "people" are American citizens and they still deserve their day in court.

Mr. Kiellor is a Damyankee. I disagree (vehemently) with his representation of the War of Northern Aggression. I have also disagreed with many things he's said and written over the years. I've also agreed with him! He's made me laugh and cry with "A Prarie Home Companion" and his books and his songs. Give Garrison his day in court.

Re: “Homeless and hungry at America's most beautiful College

I hope all my children, by blood, by Girl Scouts, by classroom, by friendship all know I love them for who they are. I hope they all know my door is always open to them. I hope they know that I will listen and not judge, and not tell them what to do. I hope they each and all know how precious they are to me.
