Re: “Forgive me if I've fallen in love with romance novels

As a romance reader and a newly published romance writer, I really enjoyed reading an article on romance novels from a feminist that didn't make wrong assumptions about the novels I love and have brought me so much pleasure - so thanks so much for sharing it. Too often romance readers and writers are made to feel like we are less than we should be because of our reading (and writing choices). It is insulting to all of us to think we can only be feminists if we eschew falling in love and taking a partner and seeking for joy in things that are outside of ourselves. Love and partnership are not weak and non-feminist. Romance books are fabulous because they are full of women who learn to be strong for themselves and choose love because that is what makes them happy. I love that. Romance books have given me hope in times that seem almost devoide of it. They have helped me through some rough times. And all the women I know feel pretty much the same way too.
