Re: “Humans pose greatest threats to endangered whales off Charleston coastline

A local afterschool, and summer camp program - A Backpack Journalist - began back in September to work with OCEAN ALLIANCE, Gloucester, MA! We are working with their 4K film footage, of their expeditions and the use of their SNOTBOT as they collect the "puff" from the whales in petri cups that reside on the top of the drone. From what they collect from the SNOTBOT - they study the whale's DNA, and other hormones. We also have been sent WHALE SONGS - as Dr. Roger Payne the founder of OCEAN ALLIANCE, discovered that the whales "sing" and have emotional context to them. We will edit the films, the whale songs and our own beaches together. Our films also bring in - our own beautiful beaches - as our "Backpackers" have visited and create SAND ART, with special messages to the whales and other marine life. From these selections of SAND ART, we will insert into our film trays -and use instead of the computer generated title slides. We really appreciate this article and hope to be able to provide our short films soon, with scientific data also. Imagine that a Charleston, SC group of youth - we call them "backpackers" have the opportunity to work with one of the world's most recognized Scientists for their work and study on our world's oceans and marine life - focused on whales. Most interesting feedback - ie Our Backpackers are learning a great deal about the Whales, and at the same time experiencing for the first time: activism. We soon name our first whale..and in the Spring, live streaming with OCEAN ALLIANCE their expedition...Linda Dennis. PS Look for us to present A WHALE SYMPHONY - that will have the films, the whale songs and a visit with the Scientists
