Re: “The clamor for gun control is about emotion and ideology, not reason

My biggest problem with this article is that the author talks about liberals getting their way therefore causing more gun violence. What the author doesn't understand is that most liberals don't want the elimination of guns.

Every talk I've seen and been involved in comes to the same conclusion. People who are more liberal asking for the elimination or at the very least, control of military grade automatic assault weapons. Not handguns or shotguns, or single fire rifles.

Let me repeat. Military grade automatic assault weapons.

Conservatives and gun protection advocates for some reason are hearing "gun bans and elimination". If these folks would actually listen, they would realize that liberals don't want to take away their precious guns. They just want the ones that keep causing deaths and mass murders like the ones in Sandy Hook harder to get, if at all. But so do most members of the NRA. There was a recent pool that said that over 80% of NRA members agree there should be better control laws on these types of weapons.

Also, if you read the article and pay attention, the crimes that were stopped were by people carrying weapons most liberals are okay with citizens having. Pistols, shotguns, and such.

Stop listening with closed ears, and read the things people are actually saying. Take a moment to process it before jumping the gun (no pun intended, seriously), and give it a moment to sink in before you start throwing around all your rhetoric and anger.
