Re: “Breaking down the proposed I-526 extension

Is the real reason that Dana Beach and the Coastal Conservation League opposed to the completion of I-526 is to justify the waste of tax dollars replacing the old draw bridges across the Stono River and the Limehouse bridge connecting Johns Island? At that time, common sense would have been to put those bridges in the path of the proposed I-526. These bridges did nothing to relieve traffic because they bottleneck into slow two lane roads with intersections. If traffic is predicted to overwhelm I-526 as Mr. Beach estimates, then what alternate roadway would he propose to relieve this estimated traffic problem? I am willing to bet that everyone who opposes the completion of I-526 utilize the existing parts of I-526 to get around West Ashley and North Charleston. I am also willing to bet that they also use the James Island Connector. If you truly oppose the completion of I-526, please show me by using alternate roads instead of the existing parts of I-526 and the James Island Connector so that the traffic congestion could be relieved during rush hour traffic. If you can't do that, then what you are really saying is that I-526 is ok as long as it is not in my neighborhood.
