Re: “Saltwater Cowboys

I had dinner there last night with my family. It's a pretty big place with lots of indoor / outdoor areas to eat drink (bars). As the "Cowboys" in the name implies, bbq is a key part of the menu which is unusual, historically speaking, for Shem Creek places. Plus fried and some other seafood (ceviche for example). Good appetizers.

The location and views are great, obviously, since it doesn't have another place next to it. Lots of young bar crowd also, so make sure you are in the "area" you want to be in if you're not in that crowd. We were seated quickly; our waitress was very professional and service was fast.

The fried grouper was really good and so were the chicken wings, the bbq was a bit dryer than I prefer but still good. I think for a family dinner on the creek, I would still go to Shem Creek Bar & Grill. For drinks and bar food, this place is good.

Re: “The reparations conversation is not going away

We are equal under the law and have been for many decades. Further, tens of trillions have already been expended to address "social justice" matters with no end in sight.

Anyone using irrelevant physical traits (skin color, height, hair color, nose size...whatever) as an excuse for not being able to live a normal, self-reliant life is deluded.

Re: “Mark Sanford is passing out $1 trillion bills with his face on them

Sanford is and has always been good about fiscal conservatism. However, Congress isn't so even if he got elected nothing would change. Trump is necessary again in 2020 (warts and all).

Re: “Livability looms large in Charleston council races

That's a false characterization of the American Heritage Association.

Re: “The reparations conversation is not going away

No one alive today in the US has lawfully owned a slave. No one alive today in the US has lawfully been enslaved. There have been recent criminal cases of enslavement which have been prosecuted, as they should be.

The idea of reparations for lawful US slavery, which ended in the US in 1865, is ludicrous.

First of all, who receives them? Would Barrack Obama, who is a descendant of zero slaves but is a descendant of slave owners? Will we need a South Africa 1990-style racial categorization of all US citizens to determine eligibility?

Beyond that, how would this accomplish anything more than welfare, food stamps, Section 8, and other public assistance programs? Those have been going on for decades, at a cost of trillions, and haven't eliminated poverty or hardship. Adding another stream of public funding, except this time presumably with some sort of racial test to receive it, is illogical.
