Re: “Jestine's Kitchen

It is unfortunate for those visiting Charleston, SC that, for whatever reason(s), they do not venture past Calhoun Streets for a good lowcountry meal. Because there is Bertha's Kitchen on the upper peninsula. There is Ernie's on Spring St. There is also Huger's on King St. near Spring St. But, for those visiting Folly Beach they have discovered Workmen's Cafe'. Unfortunately, WC has been closed for over 2yrs. I was told, however by the previous owner that she is set to reopen in 3-4 wks. The owner plans to reopen in the same location. They are located on Grimball Road just 4 miles from Folly Beach. Check out their website It needs to be updated, but it will give you a general idea of what to expect. And, unlike Jestine's, her mother taught her how to cook. The restaurant was her mother's idea. Look for the City Paper and the Post and Courier's review of WC. Give them a try once they reopen. You will not be disappointed. Trust me. Oh, also their prices were not bad and you got a lot for the money.
