Re: “The Dig South conference mashes up technology, arts, and business

The term "Silicon Harbor" was one used by Nate DaPore, CEO of PeopleMatter and picked up by Mayor Riley....and later the FAST COMPANY writer. The same name is used by Hong Kong, Hamburg, and Camden, ME.

Re: “Is Charleston becoming an economic powerhouse?

Others have already shown the gaping holes in the waste of paper and electrons.

In addition to "jobs", one must ALSO look at WAGES! Pay in Charleston runs about 18-20% BELOW the nation. Our delirious leaders handed Boeing a welfare check of some half-billion dollars - Boeing, a company that was desperate to find a second location to build the "Nightmareliner" that was then 2 years behind schedule, and is now THREE years behind, with orders being cancelled and losses climbing as we speak.

A good business focuses on creating products and services to serve the marketplace, and they go out and sell stuff. When a business is focused on taxes - they have much, much bigger problems.
