Re: “Should I Stay or Should I Go?

You definitely need to go to Moe's as often as possible! It's delicious, my friend owns it & my best friend runs the kitchen. =)

On another note, I really appreciate your article. It is EXACTLY what my partner and I consider all the time. We're a very new feature film production company out on Wadmalaw Island, but we have major projects in development. Our first film is in post right now, and we did it as a documentary, feeling that would be the best way to get our feet wet. Our goals are huge, and we're very driven. That said, we continually weigh the options . . . stay here & grow from basically the ground up with Charleston's future film base (which is a truly lovely idea), move out to or near Los Angeles in order to be immersed and available for all the right folks, or even move closer to Wilmington, where they've already started growing and have Screen Gems.

Before meeting, my boyfriend/business partner had his own dreams of moving out to L.A. for work in entertainment. My dream was to move up to New York for the same thing. Since then, I've pulled myself away from the New York idea, especially after going out to L.A. last year. Is that where you and your wife Mandy decided to go tough it out (New York)? I hope it is going very well.

There are, of course, pros and cons to staying. Right now, we're with you on the fantasies and ideas you spoke about in the article . . . and if you get back to Charleston, we'll be happy to see you at Moe's for a nice lunch. =)

Re: “Obama Rebuilds, Isle of Folly, Feisty Captain Sam

Agreed! Folly Beach used to be something special. Now, I don't ever go there . . . My worst experience ever was at a restaurant I will not name (out of respect that they do NOT deserve), and the service was HORRIFYING. The food came out COMPLETELY cold, and when I dared to say something to the waitress, she was a TOTAL BITCH to the mouth-dropping shock of the other people at my table. She got the manager, and he was WORSE than her about it. When I complained about her attitude, he blew me off twice and kept asking if the rest of the food was good, and walked off. I haven't even had the desire to go to the entire beach since then, because that was the last straw.

Nobody can park the way we used to, and now it's all about tourists and money. Forget about nurturing creative souls who may one day represent our area with their music, art or athletic abilities . . . if it is up to the uneducated morons in charge, voted in by mostly uneducated morons who have no idea how to form an independent thought, there will be a list devised in the future. This list will inform us, the "free" citizens of America, how we are allowed to behave and go about our lives, as residents under their rule. I wonder what will be on it.
