Re: “South Carolina shares blame with Sametta Heyward

I was angry when I heard this story. I don't care if the individual was purple. Her actions were dumb and inexcusable. They are whites and blacks who rely on government assistance. So, these racial attacks are a huge waste of time. There are people who feel as if they are getting over on the gov't when they receive assistance, but they're lazy, stupid, and typically lack a decent level of self-confidence. When you work hard to make things happen in your life, you have something to feel good about. If you are in an income bracket eligible to receive gov't assistance, your life can not be a walk in the park. Finally, if everyone agrees that the kids are innocent, you're helping them. Decades ago, blacks were not able to get decent jobs and in order to receive welfare, the fathers could not be present in the home. The government performed searches to make sure. My grandmother raised 7 children and only two of them turned out to be delinquents. One ones a successful distributing company, another is the Vice President of Finance for a regional bank, another is a Nurse Manager, etc. Some people have sense and some don't- IN EVERY RACE. Some people make good money and aren't good parents. Some people are poor, but raise their children to responsible adults. As one post indicated, middle ground is best. Anyone who is too extreme is not presenting an acceptable solution.
