18th Annual Latin American Festival

When: Sun., Oct. 4 2009
Price: $10

Put a little spice in your life at the 18th Annual Latin American Festival (formerly the Festival Hispano), sponsored by Piggly Wiggly and the Charleston County Parks and Recreation. According to organizers, the name was changed in order to open the festival up to a bigger and better variety of music, food, and culture.

Festival-goers can taste the finest in Latin American cuisine (Caribbean, Mexican, etc.) and enjoy exciting entertainment. Expect plenty of salsa and meringue music, including Bio Ritmo, a 10-piece salsa ensemble; K-Lenda Show, playing a variety of Bachatas, Cumbia, Duranguense, and Nortena; and Banda del Sol featuring Bobby Alvarez. DJ Luigi hosts the popular salsa dance contest, and for the kiddies, there will be jump castles, rides, and a special appearance by Dora the Explorer. Annual Gold Passes will be accepted. —Amber N.
