Re: “Halls Chophouse, Taco Boy opening in Summerville's Nexton neighborhood

If those irritating owners and sons of owners will just stay away from the restaurant it has a slim chance of success. We here in Summerville can see through the bullshit and don't need an overpriced, underwhelming steak house in the area. Nexton is not going to become a place for the rich and famous, and I would suggest they not try and make it so. Too many options vs. fighting traffic to get to that side of town. Taco Boy, however, has a great reputation with us normal folks and will be a great addition to our restaurant choices. Halls may be just a bit too pricey, though.

In the time spent writing this article, you could have simply looked up this:

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

Yea. We live in Michigan but I use to live in Charleston. We always decline straws and plastic. This is a move in the responsible direction. Great Job!

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

Actually . . . . paper straws were the original straws (before there was such a thing as a plastic straw) and there's no reason we can't go back to them exclusively as they do bio-degrade. Problem solved.

" there has been a lot of times at restaurants esp places like waffle house "

If you were truly concerned about cleanliness and health, you wouldn't be eating at places like Waffle House.

Now if we can get the smokers to quit throwing their cigarette butts on the ground, on the beach, or out of their vehicle window.

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

My issue is of cleanleness.. there has been a lot of times at restaurants esp places like waffle house where the drinking glasses looks cloudy or old and I do not want to put my lips on it. So I use a straw.

Re: “Confessions of a Southern Charm Newbie: Ain’t that Tuff Enuff

Always look forward to the recaps. What a train wreck. I wonder if some of this is not scripted....I could hv sworn Daddy Langdon said $100,000 commission. Not $200,000. But what is $100,000 in the scheme of things. Craig did not know the word "Lothario"? So not surprised he did not know "pescatarian". I think Naomi should give Craig his "walking papers". How could he not know the word "lothario" and go to law school? Hmm. Poor Shep. What a waste. He is a bright guy, but boy does he have issues. He needs to see a shrink. He says he has no feelings? He doesn't care? Ha! I cannot wait till next week. I hv a girlfriend who I got hooked on this show and lives in Palm Springs, CA. She is loving this hooey:) Guess you don't have to be a native to get hooked. I send your column every week.

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

There are now paper straws available, so maybe the challenge is to get restaurants to buy those instead!!!

Re: “Dylann Roof didn't win, but did we?

Translation of Neil's comment: I'm clearly a racist prick who either didn't reason through what I just typed or somehow fails to understand that the terrorist attack on Emanuel AME is completely the fault of a white man entrenched in the culture of white supremacy. So yeah, this one is all on "whitey."

Seriously?!?!?! Did you attend his town halls?!?!?! Not only did he pick and choose from a bowl of written questions, he laughed, yes he LAUGHED, at the concerns voiced by constituents. He is a rude, arrogant ass.

Hooray for the Macintosh. Ill be there celebrating this small victory soon. I'd like to see people start requesting "no straw please."
