Re: “Charleston city leaders clash over specialized audit for racial bias in police department

Kudos to Councilman Keith Waring for standing up! In this day and time, not having effective representation on important committees to reflect constituents/voters in Charleston County is disappointing, Mr. Mayor. Operative words:. Efective, representation, voters.

Re: “Support your neighborhood cafe, or you may lose it

The neighborhood cafes have to be comepetitive with all the big name restaurants I order to get any kind of labor help. That is the biggest problem in this industry now. There are too many restaurants opening and not enough back bone to support. ALL the restaurants are crying for help. Both front and back of the house. It's a big bidding war to get kitchen help. That's what's upping the prices on your menu. The labor!!!

Re: “First-time candidate announces Democratic challenge to Mark Sanford by standing against Nancy Pelosi

This article NOT once lists what are some of the Policy positions of this Mr. Cunningham!
And there is the problem in USA, Republicans and Democrats run on Shtick that:
"They are against career politicians..." and not much else.

When the FACTS are that: Republicans: Trump, Ted Crazy, etc. are either complete lunatics or WORSE! And Obama/Clinton Democrats are a FRAUD.

About TEAPublicans being lunatics: ABSOLUTE proof of this comes from conservative parties in Europe, Canada, Australia, Israel, etc., because ALL these Conservative parties are 100% for their Government run Universal Socialized Healthcare (NHS), what Republicans call "Socialism" or "Communism" and oppose. So either ALL Conservative parties in Europe, Canada, Australia, Israel, etc. are "Socialists or Communists" or Republicans in US are complete lunatics. AND why ALL Conservative parties in Europe, Canada, Australia, Israel, etc. are all 100% for their NHS? Because it SAVES 50% on cost of health care while giving health care to all their People (FREE) for Taxes they pay.

About Obama FRAUD: ABSOLUTE proof of this comes from them passing a Healthcare plan proposed by Ultra right-wing of the Republican party (aka Heritage Foundation), which plan lead to RomneyCare, but it is NOT even as Socialized as RomneyCare! As a result of which Healthcare plan Obama passed has made little improvement in the catastrophe that Healthcare was and is for 100-Million+ Americans.

Yet Republicans & Wall Street Media are playing such Con Job on US, to call this plan they proposed, a watered down version of which Obama Fraud passed, this exact opposite of NHS, to be "Socialism"!

Re: “Support your neighborhood cafe, or you may lose it

I definitely agree about how important it is to support your neighborhood businesses. But I also agree with those who say businesses need to identify with the community they are serving. The last time I had dinner at Park Cafe was well over a year ago. We were the only ones there, the dinner was fine, but not stellar, and we paid as much as dinner at FIG or HUSK would have been. That just doesn't compute. The setting and ambiance are low-end casual dining and that's what the menu should reflect. I think they turned away a lot of us early on, with the high dinner prices, a la carte menu items at lunch (making it hard to spend less than $20 per person unless you just eat avocado toast) and not very good coffee that was a buck more than any other coffee shop around.
I applaud their local focus on parking lot attractions, etc., but the menu seriously needs to reflect the neighborhood. And by the way, not all of us who live nearby are renters paying insane rent and mortgages. Some of us have been here a long time and would love to support an affordable neighborhood cafe.

It seems like it is a "Whiles Only" establishment. For every time I walk by I only see Republican type WASPS only!

I'm not an avid baseball fan...but I was totally impressed with the "apologies" of all of the Riverdog Fans who expressed their sincere apologies on behalf of the city AND the team. Those of you who did....are the real class acts here....Right along with Tim Teebow. His faith is ALWAYS an inspiration....and so are the Riverdog fans that care enough to offer their class act apologies.

Re: “Gentry Bar & Room packs flavor, but lacks focus

"A man staring at one of the many television screens suddenly screams out in a calamitous manner." This line could describe dozens of 'new' establishments in Charleston. I know that I am far too quickly becoming an old lady, but I sure do miss the genteel Sermet's. For those ladies and gents that like to lunch, there are fewer and fewer places to go.

Re: “First-time candidate announces Democratic challenge to Mark Sanford by standing against Nancy Pelosi

"Snowflakes" = a term used by the intellectually challenged due to a lack of a cogent argument.
"Libertards" (sic) = a derogatory term used by someone disrespectful of the mentally challenged using their disability as an example of unfitness.

Liberals strive to help, share and care for the disadvantaged while conservatives strive to hinder help to the disadvantaged, because it nullifies their power over them. Given this, why are so many xtians on the conservative bandwagon? Because they are CINOs (xtians in name only), for they really are only interested in helping their own kind and themselves - or forcing the "lost" non-xtian into conforming to their tenets.

When I was growing up, xtians helped and loved almost everyone in the community. Today they hate everything non-xtian and that's deplorable.

Re: “Support your neighborhood cafe, or you may lose it

What I learned from this is that people who gentrify a neighborhood don't bat an eyelash paying insane rent and mortgages but for some reason draw the line when it comes to the businesses created as a result of their gentrification charging proportional prices for their services.

Republicans complained for years about Obamacare being created and "shoved down throats" behind closed doors. I'm sure the same people clamoring for transparency back then will be leading the charge for an open and honest debate of this new healthcare bill.

"Ron Liberte: "I contribute nothing but my vacuous snarkiness"

Create account to post vacuously snarky comment about someone else's vacuous snarkiness. Irony, shame and self-awareness totally lost. Look no further than this as the reason people like Mark Sanford remain employed.

Re: “UPDATE: 30+ Charleston restaurants have signed on to the Strawless Summer Challenge

I think this is a fantastic idea. But you're still going to have people who want to have a straw. For those people the restaurant should buy bags of Twizzlers so that people could bite off each end and use the Twizzler as a straw it works and it's edible

Re: “Support your neighborhood cafe, or you may lose it

Affordability is the main reason I don't go to neighborhood places like Park Cafe, Little Jacks, Edmunds, B&B, etc on the regular.... they are just too pricey for regular dinner meals, regardless of how tasty their food may be. A couple $3 tacos with free chips and salsa from Santis is definitely more accessible.

Tim did not get where he is by being a cry baby. He can handle anything the promoters of the Riverdogs can dish out....and then some. Believe me, he is basking in the limelight and his fellow members of the team are really enjoying the full houses he is bringing in. The old saying about any kind of publicity is good...even bad publicity...fits Tim to a "T". Good luck, Tim, and I hope your future is in baseball.

Re: “First-time candidate announces Democratic challenge to Mark Sanford by standing against Nancy Pelosi

Of course he will support Pelosi...especially if he ever wants any money from the DNC. That woman is a liability to the DNC, and will watch it fall further and further into disrepair in the next year. Why any Democrat, especially one with no name, would try and challenge Sanford is questionable. He'll spend a lot of folks' hard-earned money from the Snowflakes and Complainers of the libertards, and then fall flat on his face.

Save yourself time and money and wait until the DNC can show itself to be a member of a club that anyone would want to be a part of.

Don't get me wrong...I like Jack's Cafe...but you can whip up most of the stuff on their menu with cheap ingredients you already have in your kitchen. There's a reason why it's affordable. You can't really compare Jack's to other non-diner type restaurants.
