Re: “A Brief History of the Boiled Peanut

I moved to the border of North Carolina (and SC) a year ago from Colorado, and had never heard of boiled peanuts..I saw them at the gas stations and roadside stands, and finally broke down to try them. I love hot and spicy, cajun food so that style appeals to me. Now I am an addict and have happily found them at all the local grocery store Canned, Cajun style, from the brand 'Peanut Patch'. My other favorite new Southern treats are Hannah's pickled eggs (pink and very vinegary) as well as pickled sausage,(both sold in all the grocery stores) but, the best southern snack in the world is pickled okra! (hot, from the brands Old South and Taste of Texas). You can get most anything on eBay, Wal-Mart, etc online with a search, FYI. I get a HUGE jar of Old South pickled okra from Wal-Mart online, free shipping, and find such delicacies as Cajun pickled quail eggs from Louisiana (homemade, sent in canning jars) on eBay. I'm sure you can get canned boiled peanuts online. FYI. Try Peanut Patch..simmered on your stove top in 5 min, and very inexpensive, it's as good as the real deal.

Re: “James Island's White Duck Taco Shop has closed

So let me get this straight, Josh - a restaurant that in 3 years hasn't gotten enough customer support to stay open is a "restaurant with potential?" And open restaurants keep condos out? Seriously, that's how your thought process works?

Re: “James Island's White Duck Taco Shop has closed

Saddened that yet another restaurant with potential in James Island closes. James Island needs places like this to stay open, so we can keep the condos out. I hope something good opens in it's place.

Re: “Lidl grocery store to open in Goose Creek Thurs. Nov. 30

Extremely poor planning, expect egress from the new Goose Creek Lidl's parking lot to not only be slow but dangerous. A single exit lane, those attempting to turn left onto busy St. James Ave. are not warned that there is not a safe center lane in which they can sit until they can safely merge with northbound traffic, as is available along most of St. James. Instead, their fight or flight instincts will kick-in as they find themselves sitting in a southbound turn lane for Huntsman Drive. This will cause many to attempt to merge into the northbound lane quicker and less safely than they otherwise would. The question is, how many Lidl customer lives will be permanently damaged before the store addresses unsafe egress conditions that existed prior to the store opening?

Re: “Going behind the grill at Moe's Crosstown's iconic burger night

Moe's Crosstown reminds me of Charleston before it became Yuppie Central. Believe it or not, they used to be one of the only weekend brunch spots in town. Total legend.

Re: “UberEATS is now available in Charleston

Now the ultra rich and ultra lazy can order from some nice places, but the whole idea of having a nice meal from a nice place is the experience. Just having food delivered, at a rather high price, is just silly. Order pizza and have the nice foods as a special event. These are the same folks who are soooooo busy with their seemingly important lives that they have others shop for them, and then have them put them up in their fridges and cupboards.

Re: “Taste of Hutson Alley rescheduled to next Thurs. Nov. 16

Not sure why anyone in the Chas. area would schedule an outdoor event during November-March. The weather is so unpredictable, and when you delay an event, you lose money. We have enough days in the year with good weather to have these sorts of events. There is a desire to fill up otherwise poor attendance periods, but tourism is seasonal. That is why the Horse Cup over in Ravenel is, at best, a reasonably successful event, as they have it in later November, as well.

Re: “Owner of Manhattan's Mother's Ruin opening LOWLIFE bar on Folly

I lived on Folly for almost 10 years and have seen both restaurants and bars come and go. Each one "borrowing" concepts from current or previous establishments. Hopefully Mr. Lynch can bring us some of the Manhattan madness. Looking forward to seeing what he's got in store.

Re: “Charleston only has two female distillery owners. That could change soon.

This article is incorrect. I am a female owner at Charleston Distilling Co and they did ask us for an interview and we compiled. This article is very false! There are 2 female owners in Charleston! Dont ever ask us for an interview again because you dont write the truth!

This write up definitely makes me want to do it, and Ive paid much more for a cooking class before, certainly with chefs of a lesser caliber than Sarah. Sounds like a great deal!!!
