Re: “How South Carolina history was hijacked to sell the Lost Cause

Pat, South Carolina was at that time a predominantly black state. The blacks wanted the US Army to come and liberate them. Of course the white minority deprived the black slaves of the right to vote, so they could not vote for a SC legislature that would welcome the US Army. Terrible. How undemocratic.

Re: “The Agenda: Graham says military intervention in N. Korea 30 percent likely; N. Chs. moves ahead with annexation

It's not surprising to see SC on there. We live in our little Charleston bubble full of transplants anyway, monied people moving here or faux hipster transients that snag jobs in all the readily available food and bev *scene*. Take a drive outside through the state sometime and it's easy to see why it ranked #3

https://www.rt.com/news/413326-china-pales…

Again REAL NEWS compared to this BS. No wonder Graham wants foreign news agencies outlawed in the states.

Im not even getting involved in the debate about Israel, but this is REAL news. Not just the off cuff opinion from some politician. Unless you think that of the politicans of China in the news.

Re: “The Agenda: Graham says military intervention in N. Korea 30 percent likely; N. Chs. moves ahead with annexation

what ever happened to speak softly but carry a big stick? This isn't even Grahams fault. This is the MEDIAS FAULT again for choosing this quote from the many hours of some random politicians day (thus advertising him).

The media is such a JOKE in this country even FOX NEWS (news international) was like, "peace, im out!" and sold their company to abc disney.

That should tell you media people what the population of the USA thinks of your garbage news reports.
Plus now there are only 4 media conglomerates left to rule them all. Fox WAS the fifth. This is a MONOPOLY that needs FIXED.

Or you guys can continue parroting down news stories from the top like royal clowns.

Re: “The Agenda: Graham says military intervention in N. Korea 30 percent likely; N. Chs. moves ahead with annexation

When has Lyndsey Graham been 30 percent right in his highly coordinated hand up the ass puppet show he calls a career?

Sensationalism in politics? Talk about conspiracy...I wonder which weapons corporations fund his campaigns the most? This guy is the reason for the second Iraq war, and his administration believes they are the four horseman of the apocolypse.

If GRAHAM chooses to end humanity with nukes while playing god it is all the fault of you fools for going along with the show and putting him in POWER. He is as embarrassing as Nikki Haley to the world view, and basically seen as full of shit.

Re: “How South Carolina history was hijacked to sell the Lost Cause

The lawfully seceded states were illegally invaded by the United States, the invasion was a violation of Article III, Section 3 of its constitution. The secessions were under powers reserved to the states by the Tenth Amendment. Since someone that's historically ignorant, Fort Sumter belonged to South Carolina as of 20 December 1860, it was unlawfully invaded by the US Army in the middle of the night on 26 December 1860. My ancestors gave them almost 4 months to cease and desist, when 12 US Navy warships steamed into Charleston Harbor, my ancestors gave them an ultimatum to vacate, when the invaders refused, we shelled them. No one died.

Those of you that think we southerners will forget the illegal invasion that saw the murders of over 500,000 of our people should think again. Like the Armenians, we'll never forget.

Re: “With experience in three Batali kitchens, Chef Jacques Larson reflects on the celebrity chef's sexual misconduct allegations

OMG, I might as well send preemptive apologies and beg forgiveness before I too am accused of sexual misconduct. I was bartender at one of the more decent restaurants in downtown Charleston (1982-1986) and it was very common for a waitress to date/sleep with a chefs or a cocktail waitresses to date/sleep with a bartender; sometimes at work. I had more than my share but I never forced myself on anyone nor was I in a position to threaten their job; it was consensual sex and we all played nice afterwards.

Re: “How South Carolina history was hijacked to sell the Lost Cause

Excellent article! As a "transplant" (in 1970), I keep trying to understand why Southern myopia about the past is so persistent, but I guess it takes a LONG time for many humans to accept uncomfortable truths. I spent two months with the American military in Kosovo. The Christians and Muslims there were still (culturally) engaged in a battle that had ended 500 years ago. Sigh...

Re: “New SmartCards now available for peninsula's parking meters

All while there are raising rent costs for downtown shopkeepers! Brilliant! That has to be the best way to tank our local economy! good job. There will be plenty of more parking spots in a few years if they keep up decisions like this.

We should have more free parking on the penninsula, unless you guys continue to want retailers on king street to close down every year

Greedier and Greedier.

You people are asking too much from your citizens.
They are trying to kill off our businesses downtown so Tanger outlet can take it all! Pigs!!

Like people are going to continue to want to go downtown if after a while they start realizing it is at least 8 dollars a pop to find a garage just to go shopping.
