Re: “Black Bean Co.

I am typically not one to complain or write a bad review but I felt this is something that needs to be said and could prevent and issue for customers in the future. My husband and I went here for lunch one day while celebrating our one year wedding anniversary in Charleston. I have a gluten issue (causes severe anxiety and tonic clonic seizures) and their website said they have gluten free options so we thought it was perfect.

We get there and I order a sausage, egg and cheese wrap because the board said it could be made with a gluten free wrap. I ask the server THREE times that she was sure it was gluten free (I even asked the type of wrap so I could confirm, but she didn't know, but promised it was). We get our food, after waiting quite a while, and begin to eat. I should have gone with my gut feeling because I knew something was wrong. The wrap was too chewy to be GF and did not taste right.

After the meal I went back to the register and asked if the lady could get my the packaging for the wraps. She went and got them and as soon as I got them I started to cry. First ingredient- ENRICHED BLEACHED FLOUR. It literally says on the front of the packaging CONTAINS WHEAT. I was livid. The lady (who was extremely sweet) immediately said "I am SO SORRY, we were told they were gluten free, let me go get my manager". She came back rather quickly and said "he wants me to give you a refund", so she did. I then asked if he was going to come out and speak to us because this was NOT okay. She proceeded to tell me "he is too busy", which was absolutely ridiculous. I did not care about the money, I wanted them to know that they could seriously hurt someone if they keep serving "allergy friendly foods" that are not what they are claiming them to be!

Luckily, I did not have a seizure, just a mild headaches and belly issues. It could have been a lot worse. TERRIBLE customer service (the manager, not the servers) for not addressing the issue with us directly.

ASK FOR THE PACKAGING BEFORE YOU ORDER IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OR SENSITIVITY!

Re: “Krazy Owls

I've had lunch there about a dozen times and was never disappointed with the food. Burgers are great! Good size and great taste! Even the Cobb salad with grilled chicken was very, very good. And it filled me up. I wish them luck! I don't work on Johns Island anymore so i'll have to hit them on a weekend.

Re: “Krazy Owls

Just ate at the Krazy Owl on John's Island across the street from the fat hen. I've eaten there multiple times and always enjoyed it. Last night I had the full rack of ribs,, mac and cheese and red rice. The full rack was delicious with a medium amount of meat not a huge amount but not a small amount, very satisfying. The mac and cheese and red rice or equally delicious and served in large portions and smoking hot which I really like.

They have a new big screen TV for sports that has to be 11 feet diagonal using a projection system. The picture looked good and is sure to satisfy sports fans. Combined with their full bar seems like a real winner. I suggested they have James Bond night and show Bond movies as that would be a lot of fun too if that's possible to do. So thumbs up on the Krazy Owl

Food snobs will easily be able to find something wrong anywhere they go but the krazy owl does a lot of things right and gets my vote.

Re: “ALDI

But you don't have the fancy bags with the names of the gluten free, organic, farm raised eggs and roam free cows to brag about. Aldi's in Summerville has great prices. I wonder how Lowes will compete?

Re: “Colur Studios

Visit Colur NOW--it's a comprehensive collection of products and services that enhance every woman's natural beauty in a gorgeous studio. I had a wonderful experience here--why the snarky comments when the place was not even open, let alone still under construction?

Re: “Gerald's Tires

I found Geralds after getting a nail in my tire. Excellent customer service, very communicative and quick to do the job. I have since visited twice and have had nothing but kind, professional care on my 2015 Audi Q5. I highly recommend them!

Re: “Gerald's Tires

I got four new tires in the Geralds Mt Pleasant location and mentioned to the manager after the tires were installed that my low tire pressure light was on. The manager seemed annoyed and told me that BMW tire pressure indicators come on when the tires are changed. I ended pulling out my own tire gauge and took a reading showing him that the air pressure was only half of the recommended pressure. The manager seemed more annoyed than apologetic. I would not trust them especially with a nicer vehicle. These guys are turn and burn, and don't pay attention to details that could end up damaging your tire or vehicle.

Re: “ALDI

I don't need Whole Foods prices to buy nutritious food. Maybe some people need their grocery shopping to be "an experience," I would rather spend the money I save at Aldi ( usually $50-70 per week) on real experiences. Aldi is straight forward fresh food for a lot less than any store I've been to. I love hearing people complain about having to "pay a quarter" You get the quarter back when you return your cart. Bring your reusable bags and get ready to save!

Re: “Edmund's Oast

By the way, I have had the cheese plate at Edmunds two times, along with the sweater around the neck folks, and it is some of the best tasting cheese in the area. I wonder if it comes from that local farm over on Johns Island? Goat cheese tends to be a bit "tangy", and the offerings at Edmunds really fits the bill.
The beer selection is vast, and the more hops in a beer, the better I like it. Price is not that bad compared to the newer bars in the area. The clientele will eventually smooth out, and hopefully it will be a group that I like to hang with. So far there is parking available in the area, but with the huge expansion of food places up NoMo, I fear it may become a problem. So far the Union Headquarters is pretty good about parking in their place in the evening, so that is a definite safe option.....and for a good price. Free.

Re: “Edmund's Oast

The review by Brewengineer sounds like those reviews that show up for a well-known, but rather overpriced and boring chop house on King St. The wording and the phrases come right out of a "book of reviews" for critics. You can see right through them, and know the writers are often comped for their meals, and therefore write complimentary reviews of those places. I don't care about what the other customers are wearing, usually, but the sweaters around the neck cross the line.

Re: “King Street Cabaret

My first time there at the cabaret and by the way i am a 45 years old Caucasian man who loves my beautiful black sisters but when i went into the club i didnt see any i met some of the dancers there and sat and talk with a few of them and asked if they were any black girls there i was told that they dont hire black girls, bad enough no one greeted me coming into the club it was poor judgement, weird looks and horrible hospitality. I took my money and went to The Silver Slipper where i got treated with respect!!!! It was the worst experience ever. I wouldn't recommend this club to anyone

Re: “Long Island Cafe

DO NOT PAY WITH CASH at this restaurant. I was just shorted by $13.31 (party of three) ... Sam, our waiter, hoped I didnt notice .... but when you give $100 cash you count your change ... mistakes happen, so I brought it politely to his attention .... Sam said hed rectify the mistake .... second time I was shorted $3.31 .... Disgusting!!!! Brought the matter to the attention of the management .... didnt seem to concerned about the fraudulent behaviour of their server .... offered to give me the $3.31 back ... kidding me, right? Totally disgusted. Check your bill, check your change, especially if Sam is your server. DO NOT PAY with CASH at this restaurant .... you will probably get short changed.
Once a mistake .... twice ... what kind of fool do you take me for??????

Re: “Edmund's Oast

Should have named the joint - "Oldman's Boast" - to describe the ambiance enjoyed whilst one waits on a rude bartender to rancorously serve a horrible tasting over priced liquid in a warm glass.

Re: “Gerald's Tires

We here in Summerville really appreciate the work the folks at Gerald's does. Always nice, they go out of their way to give you great service. Very competitive in pricing, they always repair my tire punctures for free, regardless of whether or not I purchased them there. With my many vehicles, I eventually dress them in Gerald's tires once they wear out, so there are not many that don't have the Gerald's name on them. Keep up the good work and you'll stay my favorite place to have my cars fitted with your tires.

Re: “Gerald's Tires

I am amazed by the staff and accuracy of the work at this location. I came in as a first time customer today and will now become a life long one. The price was lower than other shops I requested quotes from and that's after geralds discovered additional items in need of repair. I got the added bonus of finding a lovely red rose on my passenger's seat as a token of appreciation for being a customer. THANK YOU! Finding a rare gem of a mechanic like this one, is one you keep for life.
