Lack of education is a problem...Mackerel is great prepared a variety of ways. Fish of the Jack family CAN sometimes contain parasites but if you can filet them properly Or they are parasite free, they are a great fish. Try to understand seafood on a larger (international) scale, amberjack is a delicacy in Asia. Wreck fish, trigger, spade, we're bringing them much deserved recognition!!!

I agree. Rather tacky without addresses. Then again, it's City Paper.

Why are we detracting from successful businessmen to promote a potentially predatory individual who offers nothing to the community other than taking up real estate? I mean, who else has been offered a special tour of Tom's private movie theatre?

Can all meters be at least changed to take credit cards that I read was happening 3 years ago ?

"No taxes were raised."

Well duh. This is the South! People live here to enjoy the reduced tax burden and lack of government oppression, and then proceed to go all apoplectic when there are ever-increasing "fees" for everything. Very odd. But thank god those taxes are low!

Re: “Charleston parking meter rates will go up to $2 an hour in 2018

So i finally got the boot off of my car that happened at 9:30 last night after I posted on city paper.... coincidence? After walking to go to parking court instead of driving to work I was able to negotiate the release of my car with a 200 hundred dollar payment.... I mean its like 2 days after Christmas..

At least they were nice enough to work with me a little instead of impounding my car I guess, because I had 24 hours to pay the tickets/boot before I had to pay the tow truck and impound fees as well.

Just letting you know my list of greivances:

The tickets were all unpaid.
yes! I meant well but my intentions went to shit. Its not my fault the tickets now START at like 15 dollars an hour all the sudden and then DOUBLE every two weeks thereafter. <--Updated more expensive FINES/Ticket costs from the past.

I would have HAD my residential downtown parking pass, but I had to pay my tickets first to renew my pass. I think it would have been fine if they didn't make me renew my pass every few months instead of a year like I have had it forever before at the same spot.

Im just not a fan of the city raising the pricing on parking period since I live downtown. I am already paying hundreds of dollars a year it seems going back as long as I can remember as of having had a car while here. Getting parking tickets when the streets are empty at night! I also had a freshly expired residential parking sticker! It is ridiculous, and the parking tickets on the Penninsula going back have always felt like paying taxes or going to the dentist every year.

These price increases just look good on paper, but they make life crappier for everyone year round. We all actually have to take the time to go down to the DMV every SIX MONTHS to renew passes/stickers that have we also have to PAY FOR..

Im tired of being affected by mindless costs being raised from things that shouldn't increase in price since the value of the penninsula as an investment property has skyrocketed (artificially conde-nast style). The extra rent makes all of the shops/ restaurants charge more, and you are just creating a bubble with this crappy price gauging out here in the country.

You people in charge suck. Entitled ASSHOLES that put burdens on others with a stroke of a pen, but never lift a finger themselves!

Thanks for the short notice! Did they put things off conveniently till the last minute, because they are too busy going to lunch driving their BMW's to impress each other?
