Re: “Rappahannock Oyster Bar is so much more than an oyster bar

The review of the ceviche makes me want to go...now. Not many places in Charleston where they can make this simple but delicate dish a winner. And if you are going to have someone "try" an oyster for the first time, take them to an oyster roast, let them start off with some rubbery, over-cooked bivalve, and work their way up to a juicy, almost raw delight! Just be sure they have chili or hot dogs should your attempts to introduce folks to a new dish fail.

Re: “Halls Chophouse

This is just another expensive version of Aaron's Deli. Tourists are their main clients, and are stuck with mediocre food and a very noisy atmosphere. With all the nice genuine professional restaurants in town, I wonder why they can stay in business.

Re: “Tales from the door side

There are a lot of really dumb folks out there. Rex gets to meet them after they have clouded their small brains with a bit of ETOH.

Re: “Rappahannock Oyster Bar is so much more than an oyster bar

Went here when they first opened, wasnt that impressed but they still were working with a partial menu, so not a fair review. Like that they have parking, will give it another try soon!

Re: “Best Place to Buy Taxidermy

Becca Barnet is a true Renaissance Woman! From artist to sculptor; machinist to builder. Truly an amazing talent. She also taught me to honor those animals slain, by appreciating her loving care of the elegant makeover she gives them. I do now. As an interior designer, I welcome her creativity on many projects.

Re: “Charleston's printed accolades may be doing more harm than good

The obvious is obvious. Be thankful you live in a city where it has the incoming resources and optimism to deal with inevitable city growth, and vote in city leaders who can provide the community with long term vision and planning to take it where it can and should go. There's a reason nobody moves to and everybody moves from the upstate New Yorks of the world, they're the complete opposite in all ways, mentally as well as physically, of life here in Charleston.

Re: “Orange Spot Coffee's new Park Circle location is now open

closes at 6pm, ughhhh.
when will these park circle establishments realize that those of us that actually live in the neighborhood go to work outside of the neighborhood.
too bad as their coffee is really good and it's a block from our house.

Re: “Reports of massive hacking attempts of South Carolina’s voter system likely overblown

It would be a greater service to SC if an in in depth story on the history of the ES&S Ivontronic machines, and include independent research instead of merely being used as a tool for the SC Election Commission. It's another round of 'move along, nothing to see here.' Meanwhile, we are still using ancient equipment that was forced on us in 2004, These machines have no accountability, no paper trial so we're 'faith based' voting. I see the recent admissions by the SEC is a step forward. For years, we've been told that when the machines freeze, votes are lost forever, it's all 'human error.' (meaning the poll clerks, et al.)
