I agree that we need more Dunkins but not for the donuts - for their coffee. Best ever!

Re: “Philando, Folly, and Flags

If you think white people like the Secessionists are insufferable now, just wait until white people are an actual minority. I have a bad feeling there will be a huge uptick in the amount of domestic terrorism, er, excuse me, "isolated incidents of mentally ill people."

Re: “Warning signs to be added to horse carriages in downtown Charleston

There is plenty of room for carriages in Charleston. It is not cruel, as the horses were bred for work. The signs will only work if folks would just slow down a bit.....and stay off their phones.

Re: “A look at how a growing method of online extortion reached into a West Ashley home

how about the local police going to senior centers and spread the word? And leave a card with a number on it that a senior could call if they had questions. Could save a bunch of elderly a lot of time and money.

Re: “Warning signs to be added to horse carriages in downtown Charleston

Why not have caution signs when boarding the horse carriage? "CAUTION: You're being cruel and lazy. Walk or bike your fat ass around town."

Re: “A look at how a growing method of online extortion reached into a West Ashley home

Three key things that will help you avoid being ripped off in these schemes 99% of the time.

1.) Never take a call from anyone who wants to talk about your computer.
2.) Never have your computer serviced by anyone over the Net, some are legit, most are not, think that's an actual Microsoft site, think again, take it to a local computer store, better service and usually less expensive.
3.) Don't do your banking transactions on a computer over the Internet.
4.) Credit card skimmers are rampant in Charleston, they are everywhere. Always shake a credit card input slot to check for a skimmer, never withdraw money from any site other than your own bank and always cover the key pad when punching in your code.

Re: “Why South Carolina needs more of the North's best doughy export, Dunkin' Donuts

I have been told by a reliable baker that Dunkin Donuts are shipped to their location frozen and then they are heated in an oven. If they were fried at each location they would be more like a good yeast raised donut from the North, which is a very good donut.

Krispy Kreme donuts are made fresh at each location; unfortunately, they are as you said, a sugar overload.

Basically, growing up, it was whatever donut you had available in your area that helps to form your like/dislike for a particular donut.

Re: “A musician's case against the $5 cover charge

I raised the cover to 7 dollars at my club back in January. Bottom line, if you can't afford to pay a few bucks to see a live band, then perhaps you really can't afford to go out. If the cover charge takes in more than the band asks for, I give it to them. I am there for the bar and the food, not the door. The hardworking musicians deserve it. I just don't want to have to pay for a live band out of my pocket. I support local musicians, love to have them but they should also have some sort of following. You can put the cover on your card if you don't carry cash. Also, Club owners expect you to purchase beer from them, not drink your own 30 pack in the back of your truck between songs. You should try to do that outside the supermarket where you purchased it and try to meet beautiful gals and hear live music.

Re: “Want to live like T-Rav? Buy his $2.8 million Beaufain Street house.

Big deal he bought the place a couple years ago for a little over $1 million, why dont you mention its directly next door to the low income city of Charleston housing project on Beaufain St. You think any smart person will pay that kind of money to live next to that?

Re: “Halls Chophouse, Taco Boy opening in Summerville's Nexton neighborhood

Ima, Mike, dont bother William Herron is not a real person, most likely an employee of Halls. Notice its his first comment when you click his profile and he just signed up for an account. Every time a real local person says something about Halls on City Paper that doesnt fit in with how great Halls is you get one of these people with one or 2 comments who recently signed up to post something glowing about Halls. If you go to the main reviews about Halls, its discussed there and you see the same pattern.

Re: “Halls Chophouse, Taco Boy opening in Summerville's Nexton neighborhood

Oh geez, please not Halls, I thought that super eccentric family was confined to downtown. William Herron its been my experience that locals who can afford it stay away from Halls because of the fake... family and awful rude bar crowd that precludes you from even having a conversation in there after being charged hand and fist. Out of towners and posers like you who think its the cool place to be are who you will find there. The smart money in Charleston blacklisted themselves from that place along time ago.

Re: “S.C. gas still some of the cheapest in the nation after tax increase on July 1

Dont mind the gas tax hike if it was actually going to fix the roads, which I seriously doubt. The legislators will find other pet projects for much of the money, and direct it to contracts to line their and their buddy's pockets. Our corrupt state government at work.
