Re: “Come to Rodney Scott's for the 'cue, stay for the catfish sandwich

I have been here a few times now and have tried the pork and the catfish along with greens. It has been great every time I go. Rodney's is only one of two Q places I frequent and you are definitely missing out on great cooking if you have not been yet. Thank you for coming to Charleston Mr. Scott! We love your family's cooking!

Re: “Come to Rodney Scott's for the 'cue, stay for the catfish sandwich

Putting in a word, here, for the ribeye sandwich and the potato salad, which is a mustardy rendition that could have appeared at any of the church picnics of my childhood. Those greens are truly a masterpiece, and the catfish sandwich is a good reason to go there. I agree that the BBQ pork is hit or miss and kind of depends on the time of day. But it's full of flavor, and the prices are right. I love the place!

Absolutely no "glimpse" of South Carolina here. Where are you from, Dustin?

Re: “Former owner of La Fourchette plans new French restaurant on Bogard

I knew Perig Goulet well from his days at La Fourchette. He's an arrogant, moody, average at best French chef who has a big chip on his shoulder because he has never been a success in his culinary career now approaching his late 50's. I wish he would have left Charleston and brought his "skills" to another city, but we'll have to put up with another one of his attempts at failure. Nothing to see here.

Re: “New ad from McDonald’s UK provides a startling glimpse into South Carolina life

We've never heard of the "South Carolina stack"! She may have had one, at a different restaurant. By the way we've lived in South Carolina for over 40 years and visit our Micky D's (McDonald's) quite often.

Re: “Charleston diners, stop asking servers this question

The thing is that the typical level of "service" is, in my experience, so execrable that when people encounter somebody who is half on the ball they can only assume that they're on the way to something else.

Re: “After 16 years in business, Cypress restaurant will close for good Sun. May 28

Hate to see this place go, one of the classics in Charleston, unlike some of the newer offerings!

Re: “Halls Chophouse adding 34 seats with addition of new upstairs dining room

The tourists flock to this place, while the locals laugh! Forget about the Charleston version of the Adams family that runs the place, the weirdest, most eccentric people you will ever meet, but the drinks are way overpriced, like double other places, and the steaks are mail order Allen Bros. steaks marketed as some amazing cuts of beef. Tourists are so dumb they think the Halls family i.e. Adams family are Charleston natives, little do they know they came here in 2009 after one failed business attempt in the hospitality industry after another in multiple US cities. Sadly, the jokes on us, the people of Charleston.

So basically Kimberly Hambric wants the building to sit there abandoned for eternity.

Re: “After 16 years in business, Cypress restaurant will close for good Sun. May 28

Sad to see so many local restaurants closing lately. I wish the best for chef and staff. I also wish to not see a b-b-q restaurant open there. Or a chain restaurant. Or a ridiculously priced small plates joint. Or a barren, noisy, urban-rustic place without a shred of upholstery.

This Texan never heard of a burger called a stack. Not in Houston anyway...

Re: “New ad from McDonald’s UK provides a startling glimpse into South Carolina life

I remember seeing signs for the various states of "American burgers" at Maccies a few years ago. Each and every one looked so hilariously off-base, I wondered it if it weren't on purpose. I haven't laughed so much at a sandwich since I was taught to pronounce bologna.

Needs lump crab and cocktail sauce (or pulled pork) for a South Carolina stack.
