Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

There are now paper straws available, so maybe the challenge is to get restaurants to buy those instead!!!

Re: “Dylann Roof didn't win, but did we?

Translation of Neil's comment: I'm clearly a racist prick who either didn't reason through what I just typed or somehow fails to understand that the terrorist attack on Emanuel AME is completely the fault of a white man entrenched in the culture of white supremacy. So yeah, this one is all on "whitey."

Re: “Tim Scott outlines his four-step process for connecting with others

Seriously?!?!?! Did you attend his town halls?!?!?! Not only did he pick and choose from a bowl of written questions, he laughed, yes he LAUGHED, at the concerns voiced by constituents. He is a rude, arrogant ass.

Re: “Strawless Summer challenges Charleston bars and restaurants to give up plastic straws

I've stopped using straws. I try not to use disposable cups, especially styrofoam ones (our local recyclers don't take styrofoam.) I recycle everything I can without being a nag about it. Anyone have any ideas to help me out?

Re: “Donald Trump definitely just accidentally burned every single Clemson grad

Really? This burned your breakfast, Tiger fans? Most people in the country probably couldn't tell you where Clemson is and their only familiarity with the school is because of sports. Our snake-oil salesman president may make everything seem ridiculous with his delivery, but... take a deep breath... he praised Clemson as a great school.

The president praised Clemson grads' alma mater as a great school. HORRORS.

Re: “Charleston can lead the country by getting its story straight

Damn Orlando, why all the hate?
Has your Hispanic Priviledge written a check you can't cash?
You grandstand as if every Southerner had a mess of slaves, not true at all.

Less than 2% of property owners had slaves and the vast majority owned less than 4. Usually a family unit.
A slave was expensive, in today's money, equal to about $30,000. They were not routinely beaten and abused.
Was it wrong? Of course it was, but how did they become slaves?
In America it lasted about 200 years, in Africa, several thousand years.
WHO captured the people who would become slaves? Other blacks who after one or two levels of wholesaling would Take them to the coast and sell them to Dutch traders who in turn, brought them to America.
Their first customer was a black land owner. The largest slave owners in both MS and LA were black land owners.
Ifcyoure going to tell stories and fiegn righteous indignation, the least you could do is tell the whole story.

Re: “The Charleston Lie

The amount of black owned businesses in Charleston has declined greatly along with the black resident population of Charleston for several decades now.

Re: “Tim Scott outlines his four-step process for connecting with others

That's totally bogus. He does nothing of the sort. He even bagged out if his own town hall and refuses to engage in any meaningful dialogue that opposes Trump and the Republican agreement to obstruct, destroy and deny. He has sold out all of his constituents. He will NOT be reelected! I thought the City Paper was better than this. When is your next PR piece for Scott to appear?

"Arriving at an empty lot that closely resembles someone's last-known whereabouts".....Dustin, thank you, your recaps are better than the show itself! Even though it's a hot mess, it's still my favorite guilty pleasure.

Re: “Donald Trump definitely just accidentally burned every single Clemson grad

You know what? F*** Donald Trump for saying whatever it was he said about Clemson! For that matter, F*** Donald Trump for saying anything, ever!

If Donald Trump said that grass is green or skies are blue I would say F*** Donald Trump for saying the sky is blue or the grass is green!

On the other hand, who knew Clemson was a great academic school? Not me!

Re: “Orange is the New Black evokes the Charleston shooting, but fails to follow its own message

So I just need to know if I am justified in being outraged and personally offended by this or not. Because I could go either way but I don't want to get it wrong, you know? But it's kind of rare that you get a chance to be outraged by something that you can really claim to be connected to.

Re: “Donald Trump definitely just accidentally burned every single Clemson grad

That was the "burn" of every Clemson grad? The president saying many don't know Clemson is a great academic school? That was the subject of an entire article? Seriously?

The fact is most do not know it's a great academic school. Most recognize the university because if its iconic athletic logo, the tiger paw. But yes it is also a great academic institution. It's the highest rated public academic university in our state.

But I don't understand why pointing out that fact is supposed to be an insult to those of us who graduated from Clemson. I guess the author was just looking for a reason, any reason to bash Clemson and/or the president. I'll take the "burn" of the president calling my alma mater a great academic school over the author's pride of claiming this silly little journalistic jewel as one of his own.
