Re: “Graze

Never had a bad meal here in years going back again and again. The chicken livers and artichoke appetizer is superb. Sandwiches are great and they have great specials. Come to Charleston 4-5 times a year and always eat at Graze.

Re: “Maria's Mexican Grill

Maria's is a fine local restaurant that I have been going to for years. I prefer Mercadito for Carne Asado and Zias has the best salsa but nothing at Maria's is spicy. It's very Americanized. I know the owner and family that work there and they are fine people. If mistakes were made I know they will fix them. Some people have no idea how to interact when mistakes happen. The reason servers like me is because I value what they do and I tip appropriately.

Re: “Chateau Exxxperience

Why sit in the corner seats back row if your not playing?

Re: “Saltwater Cowboys

I had dinner there last night with my family. It's a pretty big place with lots of indoor / outdoor areas to eat drink (bars). As the "Cowboys" in the name implies, bbq is a key part of the menu which is unusual, historically speaking, for Shem Creek places. Plus fried and some other seafood (ceviche for example). Good appetizers.

The location and views are great, obviously, since it doesn't have another place next to it. Lots of young bar crowd also, so make sure you are in the "area" you want to be in if you're not in that crowd. We were seated quickly; our waitress was very professional and service was fast.

The fried grouper was really good and so were the chicken wings, the bbq was a bit dryer than I prefer but still good. I think for a family dinner on the creek, I would still go to Shem Creek Bar & Grill. For drinks and bar food, this place is good.

Re: “Saltwater Cowboys

We had a late lunch there today (05-11-18). Even at that hour, there was a 20 minute wait which gave us time to check the place out. The views are all superb. Our server, John, was very attentive and brought our items as quickly as he could though the kitchen was running behind. I would not want to be there during peak hours if the slow or understaffed kitchen is a regular occurrence. The nachos were excellent, and the presentation was impressive our favorite selection!

Re: “Baroni's New York Pizza

Baroni's New York Pizza is one of my two favorite pizzas in the Charleston area. It's really good, especially when it is hot and crisp. I've always found the staff to be attentive and thoughtful.

I don't need Whole Foods prices to buy nutritious food. Maybe some people need their grocery shopping to be "an experience," I would rather spend the money I save at Aldi ( usually $50-70 per week) on real experiences. Aldi is straight forward fresh food for a lot less than any store I've been to. I love hearing people complain about having to "pay a quarter" You get the quarter back when you return your cart. Bring your reusable bags and get ready to save!

Re: “RB's Seafood

When we visit Charleston RB's our my favorite place to eat - Shrimp and Grits. They are the best!. Prices are reasonable. Service has always been good. Great location to just hang out and watch the dolphins play or walk around Shem Creek.

Re: “Shem Creek Bar and Grill

"This seafood restaurant boasts two bar areas — an inside bar shaped like the bow of a boat with three beers on tap, and an oyster bar toward the back, decorated with fishing gear."

Actually, it has three bars. The third is the only dock bar on Shem Creek (as in, it's built on pilings over the creek).

This place has been in business in 1982. The food is good, including the steaks, but service can be a inconsistent.

Re: “Southern Season

Even with 40% off, their prices are high. I do buy very specialty items from them when cooking special meals, but everyday purchases generally come from HT or Publix. I'll definitely go to the downtown store, as it is much closer to Summerville and does not have the traffic.

Re: “Sip Tap Room

Stopped in for lunch the other day. The beer list is a bit pedestrian for the food they're serving. Nothing great or amazing, but also nothing terrible. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Re: “Ye Olde Fashioned

Hye, Saturn. You are just completely incorrect....again. Ye Olde Fashioned customers are MAINLY locals. They love the food and the service. That is why they have been around for decades. Must be doing something right, as they are seldom located where the tourists frequent.

Re: “The Taco Spot

Very good tacos and burritos. Taste great but the portions aren't very big. Get chips to fill up the void.

Re: “Columbia Museum of Art

This is an excellent article which shows O'Keeffe's dominent quality of independence. However, if she had not encountered Stieglitz, she may have only become an art instructor. He was her one-man PR machine and - even then - artists needed hoopla to get noticed. However he was also the one who constantly promoted her work as sensual.

Amazing views. I've only been once and had the shrimp and grits, but will definitely be back.
