Re: “Frothy Beard Brewing

I agree with RealBeerGuru. They had a small selection of their own beers on tap, and then had to fill up the rest with beer from other breweries. I've never been a huge fan of their beers, but they were OK. Pizza was also just OK. It also seemed to me like they had baked it earlier and re-heated it. It's a cool spot and nice facility, however.

Great selection of beers and good pizza

Re: “Frothy Beard Brewing

Was looking forward to this, but they only had 4 beers on tap, I think they had a dozen when they were off Ashley Phospate. Big pizza slices had ok taste, but they were obviously baked much earlier and then retopped and reheated.

Re: “Charleston Bees and Honey

Larry's honey is the best! The packaging and care in each jar is amazing, and very reasonable. A worthy local product

Re: “Famous Mike's Peanuts

Mike is rude and disrespectful to his business neighbors. He shows no respect for the people around him in the Warehouse he works out of. I highly recommend that no one supports such a rude businessman here in Summerville.

Re: “Artisan Meat Share

Excellent spot. The Bun Mi sandwich was perfect, with a nice steamed bun exterior, and bahn mi style pork inside. Their charcuterie is well made and full of salty goodness. I am glad they are downtown, and not near my house. I would gain way too much weight eating there.

Re: “Artisan Meat Share

The only problem I have with this place is that it's close to work, and after I eat there I don't want anything but a nap. Greasy goodness...

Re: “Palmetto Brewing Co.

Fantastic location and great vibe. I have gone to a couple of free events at this location and PBC has a great open air atmosphere.

Re: “Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Pâtissier

They have delicious chocolates, baked goods, coffees, and even baguettes; Where can I get a salami sandwich for myself and a blueberry dark chocolate bar for my wife and then two cups of coffee to wake us both up after? Christophe, that's where.

Re: “Holy City Brewing

The Pluff Mud Porter and Dorchester Lite are my go to beers. Now they have the Follicle Brown in cans too, woohoo!

Re: “Famous Mike's Peanuts

While I can appreciate the honorable gentleman's (anti-mike's peanuts) opinion. I have to agree to disagree. Granted he wasn't born here, but Mike has been in this area since the mid-90's which makes him as Charlestonian as anyone else. He's been featured on National Television for his products and his personality; He's sent his product overseas to the troops. The mayors of Charleston and North Charleston frequent his stand at the market. And he's been a fixture at the Charleston farmers market, Charleston Tea Plantation's First Flush festival and MUSC for years. Mike is notably gruff at times, and has a sarcastic wit (comically so), but at least you know without a doubt about his strength of character. His notoriety brings great credit to our beautiful city and its surrounding communities. Your comment smacks of a bias against "northerners", many of whom have contributed greatly to our ranking as one of the country top tourist destinations. Would you (anti-mike) be more comfortable if he dressed like Colonel Sanders?

Re: “Famous Mike's Peanuts

peanuts are decent, Mike Shaughnessey is about as rude as they come. Typical NJ yankee coming down to the south to sell us fried food and talk terribly about our lifestyle. Hightly recommend you do not give your business to this hypocrite. He needs to take his negative attitude back to the north

Re: “Striped Pig Distillery

Wonderful space for an event. Went to a Guerrilla Cuisine dinner there a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how pretty the distillery hardware looks with the right lighting and how warm and comfortable the space was - especially for a warehouse and work site, at that (the bathrooms are a literally shining example). A few strategically placed pieces of art (big works well) and beautifully set tables were all that was needed to transform what would be a cavernous area in the back into a really cool, even elegant, venue. I know others worked hard to make that transformation and I WAS under the influence of some fabulous food, but the end result of GC & others' efforts highlighted the possibilities of the distillery space itself. The Striped Pig people proved very hospitable folks, dedicated to their craft and eager to share the process & results with willing fans. Sampled some powerful but oddly delicious moonshine & a more finished product. It is obvious that a great deal of thought went into making this space a welcoming place to hang out, whether for an event or just a visit.

Re: “Lowcountry Olive Oil

The downtown location will open soon. Until then visit http://www.lowcountryoliveoil.com/ to find lowcountry olive oil at a retailer or farmer's market location near you.
