Re: “Mellow Mushroom

I remember eating at Mellow Mushroom on my lunch break on a weekly basis in Atlanta. They were never so “upscale” so I really miss just calling in to pick up a calzone or a house salad. I miss the simplicity and the ease of getting good food. However, I guess if you put something downtown it has to have some type of “Down Town Charleston Charm”. The food is top notch, however.

Re: “Vespa Pizzeria

My family has really enjoyed the new addition to Daniel island. I will have to say my favorite is the white bean soup. The pizza is loaded with all fresh ingredients and a perfect, crispy crust. We sat up at the pizza bar and had a nice time watching all of the action in the kitchen.

Re: “Vespa Pizzeria

Certainly some room for improvement, but overall very good. Service was very slow, too slow for Blackbaud Employees who have short lunch breaks, but hopefully those kinks are being worked out. Simple, solid menu with just enough variety. Pizza had a perfect crust with a great san marzano sauce, but a bit too much mozzarella in my opinion. The goat cheese and beet salad was spot on and perfectly balanced. Prices are relatively small, as are the portion sizes...a good match in my opinion.

Re: “A Dough Re Mi Pizzeria

Excellent gyros and pizza. Extremely nice staff. Would have given it a 5, but the cleanliness of the place isn't the best

Re: “Carolina Crust Gourmet Pizza

When I went I loved what I had! I didn't like the chairs but hey the food is great! I love the potato salad and their Italian Wrap. The pizza I tasted was also wonderful. I would recommend it and will be going back.

Re: “A Dough Re Mi Pizzeria

First time trying the food from here: had delivery pizza after a day of unpacking the moving truck. What we got was a yummy pizza, big slices, loaded down with pepperoni, sausage and ham.
Would defintitely recommend!

Re: “EVO Pizza

EVO is not a "pizza joint." They make delicious food with smoky, delicate crusts and fragrant, fresh ingredients. They have top-notch craft beers and live jazz. The do NOT make a big, greasy pie, as one would find at a traditional pizza joint. Do not go in expecting that. Try La Pizzeria in Mount Pleasant or Park Pizza down the street from EVO. They're both yummy.

I love pizza in all its forms, and I know that there are widely differing variations on the theme. Sicilian, Neapolitan, NY-style, Chicago deep-dish, gourmet... all are wonderful in their own way. The poster that insisted that EVO is terrible because s/he didn't expect what they were serving should have figured it out by looking at what the other diners were eating. I've never been betrayed by my eyes or nose in EVO.

Re: “Mia Pomodori

I tried their pizza recently. It was fantastic. We got a large pizza with meatballs and ricotta cheese. They make their meetballs from scratch there, so be sure to try them out. The pizza was perfect...just how they are served in my hometown of Boston. Thin crust, crispy, and very fresh ingredients. This place makes the top 2 list of pizza places in charleston. If you live downtown, they will deliver as well. Check this place out. Call ahead and order though b/c you will have to wait a while if you order it there.
