The grass is greener

The Charleston Parks Conservancy’s largest fundraiser is back this year in a new location while its usual spot, Colonial Lake, gets a facelift. The street party-style celebration features an extensive selection of some of the area’s best eats. This year’s catering lineup includes Indaco, Oak Steakhouse, Relish Distinctive Catering, Bull Street Gourmet and Market, Jim ‘N Nick’s, Vincent Chicco’s, Monza, Básico, Burwell’s Stonefire Grill, Royal Cup Coffee, Grill 225, Freddo Gelato, Christophe Artisan Chocolatier, Blend Juice Bar, and more. Icebox will host an open bar and specialty cocktails will be provided by The Americano, The Cocktail Club and 44° North Vodka. Wine will be provided by Mira Winery, Grapevine Distributors and Finca El Origen Winery. Beer will be provided by Southern Eagle Distributing Inc. If the food and drink aren’t tempting enough, there will be live music by Americana band The Bushels and Brazilian band Malandro Soul. Those looking for a more bizarre form of entertainment can rest assured: there will be an aerialist as well as fire and breakdancing performers. Palmetto Mobile Entertainment will blast dance favorites following the live performances. An auction hosted on Charleston-based app Bidr featuring big-ticket prizes will be accessible to guests, who can already preview items online. Some auction items up for grabs include diamond earrings from Groghan’s Jewel Box, an Inspirato vacation to either Vail, Colorado or Punta de Mita, Mexico, event packages from EventHaus rentals, a dedicated bench at Colonial Lake, and more. The auction will close the day of the event at 8:30 p.m. Those looking to go all-out and receive special treatment at the event can purchase V.I.P tickets which grant guests access to an executive tent housing exclusive appetizers, cocktails, and desserts from Magnolia’s, Blossom, Cypress, Cirsea Ice Cream, and Cacao’s Artisan Chocolate. There will also be a surprise live performance for V.I.P guests. “Let’s just say we had to pull some strings to get our lead performer to join us,” hints Charleston Parks Conservancy Director of Development Amy Carter. “[We are] dedicated to connecting people to their parks and revitalizing Charleston’s public parks and green spaces,” says Carter. The rain location for the event is Memminger Auditorium on 56 Beaufain St. downtown.
