Great Scot!

September brings the return of the 45th Annual Charleston Scottish Games and Highland Gathering at Boone Hall Plantation, an annual festival that benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Starting off the weekend of Gaelic culture is a Scotch tasting ($35) on Friday night at Gage Hall located at 4 Archdale St. Rare casks and reserves will be served. On Saturday, guests can head to Boone Hall Plantation to check out live music from Gaelic group Rathkeltair and artist Carroll Brown, the largest piping and drumming competition in the Southeast, and the Scottish Heavy Athletics featuring events like the Caber Toss, the Hammer Throw, the Sheaf Toss, and the Stone of Strength. Several Scottish children’s activities will be onsite including the Scottish egg relay, story-telling, and face painting. And for all you dog lovers, make sure to check out the Border Collie demonstrations.
