Cars, cycles, contests, and 'cue

This year, more bands are playing and more venues are included in the lineup of Rockabillaque, the annual event that draws fans of cars, motorcycles, barbecue, and everything Rockabilly. In addition to the Miss Rockabillaque pin-up contest in which competitors show off their chic vintage looks, there is now a Mister Rockabillaque contest, kids’ tattoo contest, and kids’ retro fashion show. “We draw ages young and old [to the event],” says Simon Cantlon, producer of Vive le Rock Productions. At the event, entertainment is second only to barbecue provided by the Barbecue Joint. Live entertainers playing Park Circle’s various venues during the event include Strung Like a Horse from Chattanooga, Tenn., Cigar Store Indians from Roswell, Ga., The Tremors from Greensboro, N.C., and local acts like Jason and the Juggernauts, Whiskey Diablo, Jordan Igoe, and Mr. Bonetangles. Venues hosting live music throughout the day include The Sparrow, The Mill, The Brew Cellar, DIG in the Park, Lotus, The Junction, The Orange Spot, EVO, and Madra Rua. Head over to these locations for drink specials, specialty cocktails, and vodka tastings. The event will benefit This is Noteworthy, a multimedia nonprofit geared toward bridging the gap between classroom and career for aspiring creative professionals.
