Local filmmaker John Barnhardt has officially made it to the big-time, winning an Emmy for his Travel Channel show Born to Explore.
While working on the show, Barnhardt has journeyed from the Sahara to the jungles of Uganda, filming and photographing all sorts of natural scenes along the way. “My first job was running the teleprompter for WCIV ABC News4,” Barnhardt says. “When I got the job, I knew I would be able to climb the ladder in the industry if I lived movies and television 24/7.” He’s done just that, rising in the ranks from teleprompter to film teacher at Trident Tech to director, cinematographer, and now Emmy winner of Born to Explore.
