Creative organizer Tara Derr Webb and friends are unleashing another community-centric event, taking place in Awendaw on December 15. According to organizers, Fiddle Tree is described most simply as “Friends Doing Stuff” and will transform the rural space into a cultural bazaar of crafts, food, and music.

Nathan Conkle has opened the new
Gathering Cafe in West Ashley at 1124 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., bringing a nourishing option to the neighborhood. The Culinary Institute of Charleston grad has worked in kitchens around town, including Magnolias, but most recently, he managed the prepared foods section of Whole Foods in Mt. Pleasant, a lesson in wholesome, healthy fare.

What do two respiratory therapists do when they retire? That's the question that Blane and Nancy Sommer recently found themselves having to answer. The couple knew they wanted to open in a business in Charleston, though they weren't quite sure what kind. "We just knew we wanted a place where we would have fun at work everyday," says Blane Sommer.
