S.C. lawmakers are holding a hearing to investigate the deaths of Wendy Newton and Nicolette Green, mental health patients who drowned when sheriff's deputies drove into Hurricane Florence floodwaters. The deputies, Stephen Flood and Joshua Bishop, were rescued from the top of the van and have since been fired. Source: AP News

BMW is shifting some of the production of the X3, which was exclusively made in Spartanburg County, to China in response to Trump's tariffs and trade war. The move would avoid 40 percent import duties China has imposed on U.S.-built cars. Source: P&C

On Wednesday, a judge dismissed Santee Cooper's motion to throw out a lawsuit brought by 20 S.C. electric co-ops to reduce rates. The utility tried to argue that the law "favors bondholders over the citizenry." In his order, Circuit Court Judge John Hayes wrote: "That a government agency needs more reminding that it serves the people is a conclusion I cannot accept." Source: The State
