Charleston is getting a break from the historic heat today (Thursday) and Friday, it will heat back up over the weekend, cool back off next week, then heat back up again. Lovely. The cause is the Bermuda High, a hot circulation of air that usually fuels hurricanes. Downtown Charleston has seen a high of at least 80 degrees every day except for one, Fri., Oct. 12, since May 29. Source: P&C

S.C. Rep. James Smith and Gov. Henry McMaster had their first gubernatorial debate last night. They will debate again next week for the final debate before Election Day, Nov. 6. Source: AP

If you missed the Katie Arrington and Joe Cunningham debate, you can read our recap and watch video of the whole debate. Source: City Paper
