Today on CBS This Morning, host Charlie Rose asked S.C. Congressman Trey Gowdy if Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian involvement in the 2016 election, should be fired.

Gowdy's answer, "No. That's an easy [one]."

He went on to say, "I could give you a two word answer, but it's family television so I won't do it."

Gowdy's rejection comes before the House Intelligence Committee which he is overseeing will question Jared Kushner, the president's son-in-law and top political advisor, for a second day about the Trump campaign's possible Russian contacts.

In statements made ahead of initial meetings Tuesday, Kushner said, "I did not collude with Russia, nor do I know of anyone else in the campaign who did so."

Gowdy, a former prosecutor, told Fox News he wanted to parse Kushner's statements further.

"I'm going to take the word 'campaign' out of that statement and ask the same question."

There's no indication that Mueller will be fired, but it's clear that Trump is unhappy with the leadership at the Department of Justice. In recent days, Trump has repeatedly voiced dissatisfaction with Attorney General Jeff Sessions as pressure builds around the Russia investigation.
