Watch Bill Murray catch the RiverDogs' opening day pitch from Mayor John Tecklenburg

There's not much you can do to make baseball opening day better than it already is unless you, say, put Bill Murray behind the plate to catch the opening pitch.

Lucky for RiverDogs fans, Carl Spackler himself has been hanging out at the Joe during this Masters week as the RiverDogs prep to open their 2016 campaign. Safe to say, the team's Director of Fun is already in midseason form.

After a rousing keys rendition of the 'Star Spangled Banner' Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg took to the mound for his first opening day pitch since taking office. He had to have an idea that it wouldn't be just any pitch and catch, right?

Soon after Tecklenburg delivered the pitch, Murray met him with a handshake and the requisite attempt at hoisting the city's jovial leader over his shoulder in congratulations — a futile effort that ended with Mr. Mayor on the ground and a lot of laughs.

The Dogs went on to win the opening game against the Columbia Fireflies in a flashy walk-off steal. They'll be at home all weekend against the Fireflies.

Take a look at the pitch from WCBD:
