Sometimes you want Big Brother to be watching, especially when you’re trying to sell a futon on Craigslist.

The North Charleston Police Department announced Friday that they will offer three “Online Exchange Zones,” which will be monitored under 24-hour video surveillance. These zones will provide locals with a safe place to conduct transactions arranged online, so you can avoid any risky meet-ups when trying to buy old VHS copies of the X-Files.

In the announcement from the City of North Charleston website, Police Chief Eddie Driggers said, “By creating these exchange zones, it is our hope that the potential for robbery and fraud will be eliminated.”

The three Online Exchange Zones are located at North Charleston City Hall, the North Charleston Police Department South Bureau at 3401 River Ave., and the North Charleston Police Department North Bureau at 7272 Cross County Road.

Parking spots to be used during transactions are marked “Online Exchange Zone” and the cameras in use were donated by Fire House Subs.

FYI: The buying and selling of firearms is prohibited in the exchange zones.
