Nearly 9,000 people said they're planning to join hands in a 'unity chain' across the Cooper River Bridge this evening in solidarity after the shooting at Emanuel AME Church that left nine dead in Charleston on Wednesday night.

Crowds are lined up on each side of the Ravenel Bridge, ready to proceed up the landmark span's pedestrian walkway that joins Mount Pleasant and Charleston. Local police departments are helping coordinate the large crowds expected to converge on the remembrance.
