Quote of the week nominee: Washington Post went searching for a South Carolina Republican to comment on Mark Sanford, but didn't have much luck: "So then how about Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the man Sanford is running to replace? When reporters asked him, he only laughed and walked away." Sanford has also not held any public appearances (P&C) since the trespassing reports surfaced on Wednesday.

SCSU - Despite last minute efforts to stall the election and a group of students protesting the election, Citadel Executive VP for Finance, Administration, and Operations Thomas Elzey was elected to be president of SC State University by school trustees yesterday.

Seawalls - A bill by a Spartanburg senator could lift the state's long-standing ban on seawalls (The State), he says, in an effort to protect constituent beach houses on Folly Beach.

Powder - Charleston's Powder Magazine looks great for 300 years old (P&C), doesn't it?

Ford - When asked about his client, S.C. Sen. Robert Ford's ethics charges this week, Ford's attorney Bill Runyon said the senator's woes are the result of sloppy bookkeeping. Ford has yet to publicly comment on the charges.
