Ketner Gets Under Brown's Skin

An indication of the real chances Democrat Linda Ketner has against Congressman Henry Brown may be that the Republican incumbent has agreed to an Oct. 1 debate on ETV. He was out of town when Randy Maatta sat down with ETV in 2006.

On Wednesday, Ketner challenged Brown to three public debates, hoping to take him on regarding the economy, healthcare, foreign policy, and main street issues like the price of food and gas.

"It seems to me that more than one half-hour debate is called for," she said.

Ketner also criticized Brown's campaign for fabricated attacks.

"I've been running against a shadow created by consultants, not a man who wants voters to know him or his record," she said.

The Associated Press reported today that Brown has declined Ketner's challenge, but stated through his campaign spokesman Rod Shealy that the two will be meeting on the campaign trail at candidate forums. By at least agreeing to the ETV debate, it looks like Brown is taking Ketner's campaign seriously.

"He better," she said.
