Charleston Lovin' Some Credit

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 9:30 AM

Twenty-two percent of homebuyers in Myrtle Beach are paying in cash, according to a recent report. While they're surprised at that number, we were more interested in Charleston's take.

By comparison, 6 percent of home buyers in the Charleston area paid cash during the first six months of 2008, and 13 percent in the Beaufort area paid cash during the first seven months.

The national average in 2007 was 7 percent, according to the National Association of Realtors.

The only house we could pay for in cash wouldn't have doors, it'd have flaps.
