Robert Barber Endorses Obama

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Tue, Jan 8, 2008 at 1:34 PM

Former Lt. Gov. candidate Robert Barber, one of the Lowcountry's most respected businessmen and politicians, endorsed Barack Obama today. He hadn't gotten to know any of the candidates positions until a few weeks ago, but Barber says he's excited and energized about Obama's campaign.

He said that Obama embodies the "Main Street" values he ran on in the 2006 election, including hard work, spiritual grounding, accountability, and compassion. The senator's ability to work across party lines and bring in independent voters is also a big draw, Barber says.

"I'll be a vigorous and enthusiastic volunteer," he says.
