Charleston County is looking for input on a proposed overpass and loop for the James Island Connector to reduce traffic problems on Folly Road. The obvious negative is the loss of such a large swath of trees, but this is likely inevitable with the planned Mark Clark connector. Before folks complain that this new loop only helps traffic getting on the island — it looks like it might eliminate that traffic light, so that should help speed up traffic heading off a little. In related news, James Island Mayor Mary Clark says she wants a lane reversed at high-traffic hours in the morning and afternoon.
