The Charleston Music Hall screens Free Solo — the film that just took home the Oscar for best documentary feature — this Sun. March 3 at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased online.

Free Solo, from documentary filmmaker E. Chai Vasarhelyi and world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, follows solo climber Alex Honnold as he prepares to climb the world’s most famous rock — the 3,200-foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park — without a rope.

Honnold’s climb sets the ultimate athletic standard: perfection or death. So, yes, folks, expect this to be an edge-of-your-seat viewing experience.

The NYT calls the film “a miraculous opportunity for the rest of us to experience the human sublime.”
