If you've still got a VHS player lying around (or better yet, are actively using one), then you'll want to head to King Street's Graveface Records. We know the spot, owned by Ryan Graveface, is a killer record store, but did you know that Graveface also rents out VHS tapes? He estimates the store's backroom has between 400-500 tapes for customers to peruse. What are you waiting for?

In case you're wondering where all these movies came from, well, the VHS stash kinda goes hand in hand with Graveface's horror-specific record label, Terror Vision. Graveface has two recording labels, the aptly titled Graveface Records, which has been around for two decades, and Terror Vision, which he started four years ago. "Terror Vision is specifically film based, and it's not entirely '80s [films], but it's mostly '80s soundtracks that have never seen the light of day," says Graveface. "Or even terrible movies with great soundtracks — because I actually kinda feel bad for composers that spent time making something incredible that's tied to such a shitty movie."

Graveface says that he's found a very different audience for his Terror Vision records, as opposed to those he promotes with Graveface Records. "I think people are exhausted by how much new music there is; Graveface has always been a struggle whereas with Terror Vision, those people are seeking out this stuff. It's a smaller market."

If you're one of those folks actively seeking out not just weird '80s movie soundtracks, but the actual movies, have we got some Halloween specific treats for you. Graveface says that most of his VHS tapes are of the horror and sci-fi persuasion. Once you get a membership card at Graveface Records, you can rent movies for $3 a piece, with a limit of three a day.

"It's perfect for a super dork like myself," says Graveface of the collection, which lives in the back of the store, in a room that he says "doesn't look like you should enter it." (Which means you totally should).

As for Graveface's '80s horror selections? The question almost leaves the man speechless; there are just too many choices. "If people haven't seen Spookies, you gotta rent Spookies," says Graveface. "Cannibal Campout. Killing Spree. Chopping Mall, so fun. Night of the Creeps, incredible. I could list 400 movies." Or you, fine reader, could go and check out 400 movies at Graveface. Thank us later.
